Blossom NYC

Being a foodie in a big city is bittersweet. On one side there’s a plethora of restaurants to explore and eat your way through, but for some (like me) it’s a bit overwhelming to pick and choose which ! My decision to eat at Blossom in New York City was pretty easy once I found out that it is an all-vegan restaurant with a focus on animal free food, fresh organic ingredients, and local farms.

They offer a lunch,  dinner and catering menu at the 9th Avenue location. They even have a gluten-free and wine list menu! While looking through the menus, I couldn’t settle on what I wanted to order. The menu was filled with absolutely delicious sounding dishes like the Porcini Cigars that are hand-rolled phyllo with porcini mushrooms, ground tempeh, almonds and cashew pesto or the Vegetable Mezze Plate that highlights seasonal vegetables and spiced quinoa.

I ordered the Rigatoni served with shallots, leeks, broccoli rabe, pistachio gremoulata,
truffle oil, caramelized fennel & onion jam on a crostini. The dish had some of my favorite vegetables and truffle oil! My only criticism would have to be about the crostini. It wasn’t as crispy as I’d imagined it would be, however the caramelized fennel & onion jam was sweet and delicious.

The creamy sauce was so tasty and reminded me of the cream sauce my mother used to make. I was once again able to enjoy the creaminess without having to question if there was dairy or not! The crunchy gremoulata complemented the creaminess and soft vegetables. I couldn’t help but order a beautiful glass of Cabernet to eat with my rigatoni. It was truly a memorable experience!

With six locations in New York, Blossom is expanding their mission of “Serving Vegan Cuisine, Encouraging a Vegan Lifestyle.”  There is a restaurant, a bakery, a wine bar and bistro, a fast food restaurant and two cafe’s. Plenty of options for all New Yorkers and visitors to dig into. Buon appetito!
