Going to Sabrina’s Cafe twice in one week should qualify me for the Sabrina Addict club right? Well, I know there isn’t such a thing, but maybe it’s time to start one because this place is phenomenal! I went for Sunday brunch and had the Tofu Scramble breakfast that absolutely satisfied every morning/afternoon craving possible- tofu, veggies, roasted potatoes (with ketchup of course!) multi-grain toast slices and to top it off, slices of fresh avocado. I left really impressed with the food, as well as the homey feel the place had. It is a mix of a diner and a restaurant setting and both work great together. It was very crowded and sort of loud for brunch, so be prepared to wait to be seated on the weekends.
On the flip side though, when I went for dinner on a Wednesday night, there was no wait at all and best of all the food still amazed me! FYI: the portion sizes are quite generous so don’t think you have to finish it all at once, saving some for later is probably a good idea.
For dinner, I decided to go with the Crispy Tofu dish even though breakfast is served all day and I was considering ordering the Tofu Scramble again, but I went for something new. The Crispy Tofu dish came out beautifully presented with a big helping of soba wheat noodles in the center surrounded by a sweet, almost duck sauce like mango salsa and the dish was topped with avocado slices. The triangular shaped crispy tofu pieces circling the noodles pulled the dish together and made it look completely appetizing. I am a huge fan of Asian cuisine, so this definitely did the job for me. I was impressed by the sweet sauce mixed with the spicy-but not too spicy- crispy tofu. There was no stopping me with cleaning my plate after trying this dish, so you may not want to expect to be bringing much of this dish home!
A second successful visit to Sabrina’s Cafe. There’s no doubt that I won’t go back to try out another veg item on their menu, especially because there are quite a few of them not to mention plenty to choose from if you are not veg. Also, this is a great date place, especially because they have two person booths- so romantic and cozy all while eating a delectable dish.
Sabrina’s has two locations in Philadelphia- one on 18th and Callowhill in the Fairmount area, as well as one near 9th and Christian in the Italian Market neighborhood. Both serve up great food and allow you to BYOB! Click here to check out the Sabrina’s Cafe website and the breakfast, brunch and dinner menus!
